Counselling and Therapies
All types of therapy rely on establishing a therapeutic relationship. This is why it is really important to meet your potential therapist. It is important that you can trust your therapist and are able to communicate freely in order that you are able to work together towards healing problematic thoughts, behaviours and attitudes affecting your life and relationships with self and others. You are likely to explore moods, feelings, thoughts/thinking, attitudes, behaviours which might be holding you back. Undertaking therapy means you are ready to undertake change. Some possible approaches are listed below - however, the most beneficial approach can be discussed with the therapist.
WHAT TO EXPECT: your first session will be longer than the following ones to give you an opportunity to meet the therapist, giving an opportunity to decide whether this is right for you. You will have the time and space to talk about what you feel needs healing in your life. The therapist and you, together, will begin to open up a way forward .

Counselling
One to one counselling can provide you with the more individualised support that most of us need at some point in our lives. Sometimes we get 'stuck' when difficulties and challenges, loss, pain, stress... are too much. The presence of another can help you to access your inner resources to help you move on and live life more fully again.
Counselling, like other therapies, can take many forms. Deep listening and deep compassionate presence should always be at the forefront of counselling.
